Fast Track Immigration in India: Faster E-Gates, Smoother Journeys
Standing in a long immigration queue after a tiring flight is nobody's favourite part of travel. To make this easier, the Government of India introduced the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).
Here is what you need to know.
What is FTI-TTP?
FTI-TTP lets pre-verified travellers clear immigration through automated e-gates instead of waiting at regular counters. It works for both international departures and arrivals.
It was launched at Delhi Airport Terminal 3 in June 2024 and has since expanded to many major airports, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Amritsar, Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirappalli.
Who can apply?
• Indian nationals
• Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders
How to enrol?
1. Apply online at the official portal, ftittp.mha.gov.in, and upload the required documents.
2. Give your biometrics (photo and fingerprints) at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or at the airport.
3. Use the e-gate when you travel. Scan your boarding pass and passport, complete the biometric check, and the gate opens.
The programme is free of charge. Registration is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

• Apply well before you travel. Verification can take a few weeks.
• Young scholars: enrol before your semester starts, so your trips home during holidays are quicker.
• Always check the official portal for the latest list of airports and rules, as the programme keeps expanding.
Fast track is only one step
